With the craze of Sydney Fashion Week / MBFWA earlier this month, there was really little time to eat a proper meal let alone curate an OTT outfit out of the contents of my frantically packed suitcase. As an indecisive person, I naturally brought along more clothes than a normal 3 day trip would ever require, but looking back I can definitely confirm that this was one instance where more is better than less.
Fashion week is probably the only time in the year where people can dress up and wear sartorial combinations that would otherwise be deemed ‘extra‘ for any other regular occasion.Whether it be colour clashing, wearing thigh high purple boots (which I thought was only something that Kylie Jenner wore) or wearing star printed dresses over flared pants in my case, it’s a time for all the fashionable people to freely express themselves.
After my experience at MBFWA 2 years ago, the message that I took with me was that you shouldn’t dress to aspire to be like anyone else or try to recreate a specific outfit. Rather, it’s a week about highlighting your own personal style. Sticking with what I felt most comfortable in (aka, black), I accessorised my outfits with my trusty pieces including my CLUSE watch and a statement gold bracelet. This Cluse watch is something that I wear everyday anyway, but it proved to be extremely helpful in making sure I got to the shows on time.
