H&M Australia Exclusive shearling vest
Tony Bianco boots, Miu Miu Noir sunglasses in Havana, Larsson &Jennings watch

I never really grasped onto the concept of how influential seeing what others wore had on what you buy. I mean, it doesn't necessarily have to be what a celebrity, blogger or what the models in editorials wear, rather the people you see on the streets and your circle of friends can have a profound influence on your outfit choices. I understood this after I had brunch with a friend of mine and I loved her boots so much I was lucky enough to find a new pair on Ebay in my size since they were old stock (this also made me realise that I didn't own any flat boots, crazy right?!).

Moral of the story is: have brunch with your friends, or maybe not if you're trying to reduce your spending

A Grey Coat

Coat: Zara (similar)
Top: Bonds Tee
Pants: Sportsgirl (old, similar here and here)
Boots: Zara (similar)
Bag: Proenza Schouler

So long countless nights reading until 5am, purely for the reason that there was nothing interesting to do alone when I woke up since almost everyone I knew was overseas basking in the European sun. Looking back now, the two month semester break flew by pretty fast, but during it? MAN, eating out no longer was exciting as it had been compared to when you had to schedule it in between classes (I think I ate Japanese food for 5 days straight, what is variation?); even watching TV series and movies became mundane.. OK, with the exception of SATC and Bridget Jones' Diary (I'd rewatch those any day).

I can't believe I'm saying this, but I'm glad to go back to uni; it means I can return to following a routine (not that I was so good at following it last semester). Hopefully, I can get my gym pass to good use too since the plan to get fit during the holidays and return looking toned and energised clearly didn't happen (more like the contrary).  Then again, most of the things I had written on my 'Things to do on the holidays list' were never really completed. I mean, I had started a new painting, but after a few days I decided that sleeping in was better. I wish you could somehow store hours of sleep and use it for those days when you manage to get 4 hours of sleep from staying up too late finishing assignments due the next day, or trying to watch a whole season in a night.

Finishing on a note more relevant to this post, this coat is a result of too many wonders past Zara after the numerous brunches that happened in the last two months. But hey, a grey coat is a better splurge than those heels that you buy because they look amazing both on and on the shelf, but never end up being worn for longer than the walk around the house since you're more likely to roll an ankle than be able to walk comfortably in them, but that's another story.

Co-ord: Another StoreCoat: Zara, Watch: Larsson & Jennings 'Lader'Clutch: Commes des Garcons, Shoes: Windsor Smith 'Gillie', Rings: Shashi NYC

Co-ords- a top and a coordinating bottom piece; it looks like you're wearing a dress when worn together, but to get more wear out of it, you can pair it separately . I love the cutouts on this set as it makes what would've been a plain black skirt look more exciting, and who can ever say no to polo necks?

Innovative textures

Top: Vintage (similar)

OK let's be honest, I'm on semester break, which means 5 weeks of doing nothing and unless you're going overseas or going on a road trip, there's not much to do. Once you've finished watching movies, having brunch, shopping, sleeping and spending hours aimlessly surfing the web it gets pretty boring. Scrolling down my Facebook newsfeed becomes depressing too because whilst I'm freezing in Melbourne's miserable weather, my friends are in the northern hemisphere soaking up the Mediterranean sun. But next year, I'll be proactive and organise a trip somewhere exciting too instead of sulking at home!

When I first wore this vest my friend asked "Are hair extensions attached to your vest?" and I totally don't blame her for thinking that as I thought the same thing. It's great to see such innovation in material department and it's fun to stroke it you know?.. I'm not sure about you, but when the temperature drops I become pretty lazy, and adding a new pair of boyfriend jeans to my wardrobe means I can stop wearing trackies out all the time. I'm yet to find the perfect pair yet, but these will do for now.
